Erling Haaland Proves He's Still Human in Latest Norway Outing
Prolific striker misfires against Slovenia
Erling Haaland, Manchester City's goal machine, had a rare off day in Norway's 2-1 friendly defeat to Slovenia on Saturday.
The 22-year-old, who has scored 25 goals in 20 appearances for City this season, failed to find the net against a resolute Slovenian defense.
Missed chances and frustration
Haaland had several chances to score, but he was denied by some excellent saves from Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
The Norwegian also hit the woodwork twice, once in each half, as his frustration grew.
Slovenia took the lead in the 24th minute through a fine strike from Benjamin Sesko.
Norway equalized in the second half through Mohamed Elyounoussi, but Slovenia snatched a late winner through Andraz Sporar.
Human after all
Haaland's performance was a reminder that even the best players in the world can have an off day.
However, Norway coach Stale Solbakken will be confident that his star striker will be back to his goalscoring best when they face Sweden in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday.
