WR Nic Anderson to Miss Season Opener
Oklahoma Sooners' wide receiver Nic Anderson will miss the season opener against the UTEP Miners. Anderson suffered a foot injury in practice and is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks. The injury occurred during a non-contact drill.
Andrel Anthony Cleared to Play
WR Andrel Anthony, who was arrested for a DUI in June, has been cleared to play in the season opener. The junior wide receiver has been practicing this offseason and head coach Lincoln Riley believes he is ready to contribute.
Impact on the Sooners Offense
Anderson and Anthony are both key players on the Sooners' offense. Anderson was expected to be one of the team's top receiving threats. His absence will put additional onus on Marvin Mims and Mike Woods to step up.
Anthony, who is a transfer from Michigan, is expected to play a big role in the slot. His quickness and agility will make him a difficult matchup for opposing defenses.
What's Next?
The Sooners are set to open the season at home against UTEP on Sept. 1. Oklahoma is a 35-point favorite in the game.
