Parma in the Italian Serie A 1999-2000
Parma Team 1999-00 Season Overview
Parma was relegated from Serie A on Monday after a 1-0 defeat at Torino ensured they dropped to the second tier three years after their comeback from a financial crisis.
The club, which won the UEFA Cup in 1995 and 1999, as well as the Coppa Italia in 1992 and 1999, had been battling relegation all season and needed a win at Torino to have any chance of survival.
But they were unable to break down a stubborn Torino defence and slipped to their 19th defeat of the season, leaving them bottom of the table with just 18 points from 34 games.

Impactful Story
In the summer following the end of the season, star striker Hernán Crespo ran out of patience and signed with champions Lazio for a then-world record transfer fee of $56 million.
The sale of Crespo was a major blow to Parma, who had relied heavily on his goals in recent seasons.
Without Crespo, Parma struggled to score goals and were relegated from Serie A the following season.
