Q1 Zhou a surprise leader and Russell a shock elimination

Relive the action from FP3 in Hungary as McLarens head the field and Hamilton spins wildly

McLaren's Lando Norris led Oscar Piastri to a McLaren one-two ahead of Max Verstappen in an action-packed qualifying session at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Zhou Guanyu was a surprise leader in the opening minutes of qualifying before Norris set the fastest lap. The Chinese driver eventually finished eighth, while Fernando Alonso was a strong fifth for Alpine.

A number of drivers crashed during the session, including Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly, and Sergio Perez. However, the most dramatic incident involved Lewis Hamilton, who lost control of his car and spun wildly off the track.

The most shocking moment of the session came when George Russell was eliminated in Q1. The Mercedes driver failed to set a time within the 107% time, which meant he will start the race from the back of the grid.
