Rookie Driver Celebrates Team Owner's Birthday with Victory

In a thrilling Daytona 500 finish, NASCAR Cup Series rookie Austin Cindric emerged victorious, holding off Bubba Wallace in an overtime shootout to celebrate team owner Roger Penske's 85th birthday. Cindric's triumph marks a milestone in his career and a special moment for the iconic Penske team.
Cindric, 23, drove his brand new NASCAR ride to the forefront of the race, showcasing his skills and the power of teamwork. With drafting help from teammate Ryan Blaney, he was able to fend off three challengers on the final lap, including Wallace who finished in second place.

Overtime Shootout Decides the Winner

As the race reached its conclusion, Cindric found himself battling for the lead with Wallace and Harrison Burton. On the final lap, Cindric executed a daring move to take the inside line, while Wallace closed in from the outside. In a side-by-side battle to the checkered flag, Cindric crossed the finish line just ahead of Wallace by a mere 0.036 seconds, the closest finish in Daytona 500 history.
